PFA Canada Elevated to FIFPRO Associate Member 

New Ranking Increases Presence, Responsibility of Canadian Premier League Players Within Athletes’ Movement, Global Football Industry 

 

Lisbon, Portugal (November 18, 2025) 

 

As one more example of Canada’s growing presence throughout global football, FIFPRO, the international organisation representing over 65,000 men and women footballers belonging to their national unions, announced today confirmation of PFA Canada as an Associate Member. 

 

Formed in 2020 by players seeking accountability, fairness and transparency, PFA Canada joined FIFPRO as a Candidate Member in 2021, going on to help establish FIFPRO Division Central and North America a year later, increasing the profile of working athletes in the Concacaf region and beyond. 

 

Today’s announcement makes clear the importance of Canadian and Canada-based players to the growth of the game in Canada and throughout the Concacaf region. As PFA Canada continues to negotiate a first collective agreement with the Canadian Premier League, becoming an Associate Member of FIFPRO not only elevates the status of its members, but members’ responsibility to participate in the game’s governance at the domestic and international levels.
